22 Best Practice Guide
Subject to the activities of your organisation it
is possible that there may be certain items of
particularly high value or of a very fragile nature,
possibly rare or even irreplaceable, or delicate
electronic equipment, or hazardous materials. Cover
for such items can be very difficult and/or expensive
to arrange and it may be tempting to take one’s
own risk rather than pay a high premium. However,
this could be a high-risk strategy and should not
be considered unless such a decision is taken
(and preferably confirmed in writing) by a suitably
authorised senior officer of the organisation.
Some contractors may offer another form of
cover which is not actually insurance, although it
may have all the appearances of it, and they may
describe it in very similar terms. This is known as
Liability Cover, under which the contractor assumes
liability himself, having taken out his own insurance
to protect himself against any claims.
All CMG Members can evidence appropriate
insurance protection for their business
responsibilities and of course their clients’ move
programmes.
