What is the FMB?
The FMB is an independent and non-profit-making trade association, established almost 70 years ago to protect the interest of small and medium-sized building firms – today it is the largest trade association in the UK Building Industry.

Why choose an FMB Builder?
Choosing a builder who’s a member of the FMB means a really good start to any building project. FMB builders work to a strict code of practice which they commit to every year when they renew their membership. Only those builders and specialists who can prove their skills and good business standing are accepted as members.

 

All FMB builders must have:

• Passed credit checks, public record and director checks
• Verified that they have no undischarged bankruptcies or relevant and outstanding County Court Judgements
• A minimum of twelve months trading history
• Provided six references, including one from a professional or from LABC   (Local Authority Building Control)
• Employer (if applicable) and public liability insurance
• VAT registration (if applicable)
• Confirmed their business address/details
• Agreed to abide by the FMB (and NRWB if applicable) Disputes Resolution and Complaints Procedures
• Signed up to the FMB Code of Practice.
