International VAT services

Following the Socialist victory in last weekend's election, it looks likely that the planned 1.6% VAT rise of the previous administration will be withdrawn.

During a televised debate last week prior to the election between the incumbent President Sarkozy and the Socialist challenger Francois Hollande. Hollande confirmed plans to re-establish the 19.6% VAT rate, reversing the 1.6% increase (to 21.2%) French VAT rise that had been implemented by the current government. He also stated that he wished to review the 7% reduced rate appllicable in the catering industry.
